You used a search engine...
... and found us?
This page is an anti-spam effort. You most probably found us because you searched with google or some other search engine for a spammy keyword.
Spammers are not only using email. They have many ways to harm the internet community. We are here to fight spammers that vandalized wikis.
What are wikis?
A regular webpage can be edited by only a few people. These are then responsible to keep all the information up to date. And of course they are responsible to bring all the information online in the first place. On a wiki site, everybody can create and edit pages. Anyone can contribute his knowledge and talent for the greater benefit of the community. This principle led to the existence of many valuable resources, most notably the wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia.
Unfortunately, spammers have also come to appreciate the value of wikis. They don't add content to the wikis, they add spam. In other words, they add links to their own pages using their own keywords on wiki pages that have nothing to do with the spamvertized websites or the spammy keywords.
When the spiders of search engine index the spammed wiki pages, the page rank of the spamvertized website will increase, because the search engine will assume that a web sites that gets linked to this often, must be quite a relevant one.
chongqed.org is an effort to fight back on wiki spam. We ask others to link to us using the keywords the spammers used when the vandalized wikis. So if you found chongqed.org when searching for a keyword, that keywords was probably used by a spammer.
You can try to find out which spammer it was by visiting our spammers page, where we list the spammers and their keywords. Remember that the spammer hurt the efforts of many good people out there who were willing to share their knowledge with you.
Wiki spamming...
- wastes the time of wiki contributors.
- wastes the time of people searching the web for information.
- wastes the time of search engine developers.
- Clobbers up the indeces of search engines.
- Makes it hard to find the real information among all the spam.
- Is just as anti-social as any other form of spamming.
